Saturday 3rd of May. We had a bit of a dilemma today as we needed to be out of the Hotel by 10am, but our flight wasn't until 6pm. After speaking to the hotel, they said they would be able to look after our bags until later on in the day, but we would need to vacate the room by 10am. This wasn't too bad, as it meant we could have a late breakfast, and then go and explore Central Park again. Neil wanted to go and have a look at a shop
about halfway up Central park, called Maxilla and Mandible, being a Dentist,
this sort of place does interest him. For me, it didn't appeal at all, so I had
a look at the other shops in the street. After he bought himself a Buffalo
Incisor we wandered in to Central Park, and saw the Swedish Cottage, that we
were unable to find the other day. We headed up to the At 2pm, we headed back to the hotel, to collect our bags, and make the slow trip back to J.F.K airport. Last Saturday it took over an hour to get from the airport to the hotel, but the other way round, it only took 25 minutes. Ohh well, all the guide books said allow at least an hour to get back to the airport on a Saturday afternoon, we did, and we ended up having to waste 4 hours at the airport. Luckily for us, as we were there so early to check in, they weren't bothered about weighing our baggage, which was a good thing, as I had the rollerblades and all the clothes I bought in my suitcase, and it weighed a ton.
As we were at the airport so early, we were able to watch the plane we were due back on, land. The flight back was uneventful, and unfortunately we couldn't blag an upgrade, so we had to make do with Economy, which wasn't too bad, as the plan was half empty, so after take off, everybody just moved around the plane and found their own space. We arrived back at Heathrow, at around 6.30am on the Sunday morning, without having much sleep on the plane. |
